This six-lane route spans 21.8 kilometers, linking Mumbai to Nhava Sheva directly. The project cost amounts to 17,843 crores and construction commenced in 2018. Presently, only the finishing touches such as painting and electrical poles are pending, which will be completed soon. Aqua Line of Mumbai Metro 3

During the previous government’s tenure, the most talked-about and debated project was Metro 3, known as the Colaba-Bandra-SEEPZ route. This underground metro project in the central part of Mumbai, from Cuffe Parade to Colaba, marks the completion of the first phase. This phase includes the stretch from Cuffe Parade to Wadala-Kurla Complex, which is 95% complete. This 17-kilometer line connects key stations like Cuffe Parade, MMRCL, Marol Naka, International Airport, Sahar Road, Domestic Airport, Santacruz, Vidyanagari, and BKC. In addition to these city-centered projects, there are others related to Navi Mumbai, Dombivali, Bhiwandi, and Thane. While some are pending completion, a few have already concluded, awaiting formal inauguration for public use. Chief Ministerial orders have ensured that these lines are open to the public before their official inauguration.

Navi Mumbai Metro

The construction of the Navi Mumbai Metro, connecting Belapur to Pendhar Road, is completed, allowing its opening for the public. This 11-kilometer metro line had been in the pipeline for twelve years. It has several stations along its path, with this stretch now ready for use, scheduled for formal inauguration by the Prime Minister.

As these projects have reached completion, critics have sometimes taken issue with their formal inaugurations, pointing out government delays. Aditya Thackeray has also highlighted these projects, giving the government a reminder through a tweet. Some projects, although ready, have been held back from inauguration. Therefore, citizens are restless, but the information from sources suggests that these projects will indeed be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the early months of the new year.

These infrastructure projects aimed at alleviating transportation issues and other challenges in Mumbai have faced numerous delays. These setbacks were due to factors such as the COVID-19 pandemic, land acquisition issues, and economic problems.
